>Tonight at the Casbah

>Tad and I went to the Casbah for dinner and to hear our friends jam…Here is the flyer that they passed around for the evening. I did the sketch quite a few months ago and they decided to use it for the flyer, even though it isn’t the best sketch…
While we were there, I worked on some more sketches…
the audience….

a sketch of the group…

and this one, well, I’m sorry Jeff. For some reason I am just unable to capture a flattering likeness. This one is terrible! I am truly sorry. I will use the excuse that you move around too much, and the lighting was bad…and I started with you, so I wasn’t quite warmed up…

But the music is fabulous and I look forward to hearing more and trying to sketch these guys again…
Thanks to Jeff, Paul and Anton for a wonderful evening of music!

>#93, 94 and a layover

>I haven’t posted in awhile. Life has a way of whisking you away from your routine. I had to make an impromptu flight to Alabama for my step-grandmother’s funeral. It was a bittersweet trip complete with sweet tea, fried okra and tornadoes. I sat in the airport FOREVER so drew this plane while in Birmingham.
EDM Challenge number 93: Draw an egg carton. I rarely cook with real eggs- ever since the ‘egg incident’ in Belize! So, I could either draw the eggbeaters I happened to buy recently or I’d look online for a photo. Imagine my surprise when I was surfing Violette’s Folk ARt and found her blog for November 13 with a photo with caption “eggs with a message” and her idea of Guerilla egg artist. I decided I would draw her eggs and also let her know I have really appreciated her blog over the last few months.

I did the spoon for EDM challenge #94…must have been one of those psychic episodes so I just knew, go ahead, alanna, draw that spoon, it’ll be a EDM challenge soon…

>Apple Redo…and Paper Bag Challenge

>I hate the last sketch of the apple that I posted on here. It’s actually embarrassing that I even posted it. It was one of those “I want to have it done but I am not exactly enjoying the process of it at the moment” situations.

I have since started a new Moleskine notebook and I decided to really sit down and LOOK at that apple again(actually I looked at two different apples) and draw it..SEE it…and then that lead to me dragging out my colored pencils…which led to me sketching a pomegranate and then a pear…and then comparing my Crayola colored pencils with my Target “create” colored pencils.(So many folks talk on EDM about the colored pencils they use, but I don’t hear Crayola mentioned at all…what can I say? I took a four and half year of poverty right after my years as a college student…I’ve not been able to afford nice colored pencils!!!) Oops, I went off on a parenthetical tangent there. So, I think I like my Crayola pencils better, but I have more choice in the Create pencils (72). For fun, I was thinking I should make a chart of all the color choices, though I’ve yet to do that.

Okay…on to the sketchbook!

I think this apple is much better
Finding the right color for the pear was difficult..I enjoyed sketching and coloring the pomegranate.
This apple is not that great…it was wonky itself, but not as much as my drawing shows! I also did a few sketches while on the bus Monday morning. Also, notice my “I voted” sticker!! I am proud that I made it to the polling station, even though I did not spend the time familiarizing myself with all the propositions that were on the AZ ballot.

Challenge: Draw a paperbag and journal about it…
